Alloy Wheel Repairs & Refurbishment in Scotland

Alloy Wheel Repairs & Refurbishment in Scotland

When you own a car, you want it to stand out from the rest. By customising the wheels on your car, you can express your personality and yet make your ride look so outstanding; people won’t be able to keep their eyes off it. Alloy wheels can make a big difference as to how your car or vehicle looks and drives on the road. Because of this, motorists – often led by the custom car fraternity, have been upgrading to larger alloy wheels for many years, replacing the basic steel wheel which is often fitted to a car with a set of custom alloys.

While they look great, alloy wheels can often present a problem for the motorist. Often the wheel itself won’t be as tough or durable as a conventional steel wheel and can be more easily damaged. When they are damaged, bent or curbed do you need to completely replace them? Replacing your wheels can cost a lot of money and, should you only need to replace one wheel, you may not be able to get the same style of wheel.

Alloy Wheel Repair is often not a simple process. The repair depends on the type of wheel you have, whether it is a painted, polished, or machined rim wheel with a painted centre. It also depends on the type of damage that has occurred. Whether your car alloys are subject to minor road scratches or major cracks, specialists alloy wheel repairs and refurbishment companies, such as Diamond Cut Wheels of Glasgow are able to rapidly repair and refurbish your alloy wheels to help get you back on the road again quickly and safely. And, at a fraction of the cost of replacement alloy wheels!

Diamond Cut Alloy Wheels offer specialist care and services available to help your alloy wheels maintain their top class appearance. A typical repair and refurbishment will be completed within 2-3 working days and a collection & delivery option is available.

So what is diamond cutting? This process entails skimming your alloy wheels with a high powered diamond coated buffer, leaving a sophisticated shined surface to your alloy wheel rims. A protective coat of lacquer is then applied to your alloys to finish off the process. Although a diamond cut finish is not possible on all cars, most of the alloy wheels we see can be skimmed in this fashion for the latest in alloy style and to give your ride the look that gets you noticed. It can even add a little extra protection against kerbside bumps and scrapes and chipping from the road. These hazards can leave unwanted markings and damage to your wheel trims, so get protection the diamond way with Diamond Cut Alloys.

At our workshop in East Kilbride, Scotland, our trained experts will carry out all that is needed to make your alloy wheels stand out from the rest; many of the jobs can be completed within 48 hours and we provide this service at very competitive prices.

There are many ways for you to contact us, you can call us and you can phone us on 07824 565280 or visit our website which provides full and comprehensive information on the range of alloy wheel repair and refurbishment services we offer.

Cleanroom Testing & Different Industries

Providing Cleanroom Testing For Different for Industries

There are many different types of industries that use cleanrooms, so what makes a cleanroom in one industry different than another? It’s quite a common question. Let’s have a look at the different cleanroom industries in more detail along with varying ISO requirements.

Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Cleanroom TestingBiotechnology and Pharmaceutical Cleanroom Testing
Many biotechnology and pharmaceutical cleanrooms are specified at ISO Class 5 to ISO Class 8 and apply to a large portion of the cleanroom standards. If you’re not familiar, ISO classes and standards are set by the International Organisation for Standardisation.

The many ISO standards provide various requirements, specifications, guidelines and characteristics that can be used consistently to ensure that materials, products, processes and services are fit for their intended purpose.

In all cleanrooms, particulate matter is a great concern. Specifically, viable particulate contamination should receive careful consideration and attention. Viable particulate contamination refers to the ability to keep the room clean by typically using modular or stick-built components with integral cove bases and corners, as well as coved ceilings in order to maintain a cleanable surface condition. This high grade finish is crucial for biotechnology and pharmaceutical cleanroom standards.

In all instances concealed areas may allow for bacterial growth which is unacceptable. These clean rooms typically use cleanroom technology that keeps the seal unbroken during sanitation and filter changes. Biotechnology and pharmaceutical cleanrooms typically have a heavy focus on pressurisation control, the elimination of cross contamination and the on-going filtration of outdoor air and indoor air.

Defence Industry Cleanroom Testing Defence Industry Cleanroom Testing
The defence and optic industries use cleanrooms for many of their applications, including biotech, pharmaceutical, and medical device. These applications may also include items such as like chip making for controlling missiles and electronic and radar components, laser technology for guidance systems and even biological components for vaccines etc.

Defence Industry Cleanrooms usually require the highest levels of security and clearance. Due to the sensitive/high security nature of various defence industry operations, this typically leads to the stick-built type of construction to allow for the perimeter to meet government security requirements.

Medical Device Cleanroom Testing
Cleanrooms for medical device technology typically fall under ISO Class 7 and ISO Class 8 range. As you can imagine the manufacturing process for these products ensures that the surface of the product does not have particulate contamination when it is completed. So, it is imperative that the cleanliness level inside the room is maintained both from a cleanroom standpoint.

In many cases people/personal is the major contaminator in most processes. This is why personnel are required to wear full gowns, booties, gloves, and hairnets in medical device manufacturing, as well as the biotech, pharmaceutical and semiconductor industries. While some medical device cleanrooms may not always adhere to the same stringent gowning practices as pharmaceutical cleanrooms, the protocol and cleaning process is just as important. The cleanroom environment for medical devices usually aims to eliminate surface contamination, or viable particulate, on their products.

Medical Device Cleanroom TestingMicroelectronic and Nanotech Cleanroom Testing
Microelectronic and Nanotech Cleanrooms are designed to maintain temperature, humidity, particulate, static and pressure levels. This is due to the fact that these factors, as well as static forces, can easily affect or compromise the final product, taking into account the huge costs associated with these types of works there’s simply no room for error.

A high level of cleanliness must be maintained at all times within nanotech and microelectronic cleanroom environments since defects can occur at any stage in this process. Many steps are involved in order to come to a final product, and a defect along the way might not be discovered until the very end. Most of these cleanrooms typically operate in a cleanroom classification range from ISO Class 1 to ISO Class 6 with various processes occurring at different levels of cleanliness.

Microelectronic and Nanotech Cleanroom TestingAutomotive Cleanroom Testing
Since the early invention of the assembly line, the automotive industry has made incredible strides in their manufacturing processes. Indeed, a wide range of attention is given to mass defects, or preventing them. Like other industries the need for manufacturing auto components inside cleanrooms has become a key factor in the automotive industry. .

In Automotive Cleanrooms factors like pressure, temperature and humidity are just as important to other rooms designed in the cleanroom classification range of ISO 7 and ISO 8. The defects that can (and do) occur in the automotive manufacturing industry are vast, including costly errors like glass coatings, electrical components, and painting to the bodywork.

Airborne & Impact Sound Testing

Airborne & Impact Sound Testing
Our Sound testing procedure is fairly simple and straightforward. Essentially, for party walls there is one type of sound insulation test which is airborne sound test; however for party walls there is a requirement for two types of sound insulation testing – airborne & impact sound testing. Here is a brief description for each type:

Airborne Sound Testing
Airborne Sound Testing is carried out by means of a loudspeaker emitting a steady source of noise on one side of the partition (wall or floor) to be measured. The corresponding sound level is measured on the other side of the partition. Impact sound insulation tests are carried out by means of a tapping machine placed on the floor sample to be measured and the noise measured in the room or space below. Calculations are done based on these measurement and the above mentioned parameters are calculated and compared to the Building Regulations Part E sound insulation requirements for the given type of the building. It is important that the building to be sound tested is completely finished and sealed with no sound leakage through doors and windows. Please see our check list for sound testing for more information.

Airborne Sound Testing Equipment
Airborne sound testing is undertaken to walls & floors. Firstly a controlled noise is generated by an amplifier and loudspeaker across a broad range of frequencies. The generated noise is very loud and is often in excess of 100dB. Initial measurements are taken using a class 1 sound level meter within the ‘source room’ followed by further measurements in the ‘receiver room’ on the other side of the wall or floor under investigation. The source room speaker position is then changed and the measurements repeated either side of the partition under test. Thereafter background noise measurements are made using a class 1 sound level meter in the receiving room and are used to apply appropriate corrections for external sound such as traffic noise.

Similarly the reverberation time (the time taken for sound to decay by 60dB) is measured within the receiving room using the sound source and a sound level meter to determine the corrections that must be applied to account for the characteristics and absorptiveness of the room. The difference in the two airborne noise levels (for walls and floors), corrected for background and reverberation characteristics determines the airborne sound insulation performance of the wall, or floor. A greater airborne noise difference between the source room and the receiver room determines a higher airborne sound insulation performance.

The time taken to undertake sound testing varies from project to project as no site is exactly the same. Taking into account standard site conditions a set of tests on houses -two airborne walls will take one to two hours. A six pack of tests on flats – 2 airborne wall tests will usually take between one and two hours, although this is dependent on our engineers having full free uninterrupted access between all the units/rooms under investigation.

Impact Sound Testing
Impact sound testing is undertaken to floors only. This test is different; a calibrated Norsonic ‘tapping machine’ which comprises of five ‘hammers’ driven up and down by a cam and electric motor is used to “tap” the floor surface by applying a known force on the floor structure. The machine is placed in several pre-determined positions. The resulting noise is measured in the dwelling below, using a sound level meter.

Thereafter, background noise measurements are made using a class 1 sound level meter in the receiving room and are used to apply appropriate corrections for external sound such as traffic noise. Similarly the reverberation time (the time taken for sound to decay by 60dB) is measured within the receiving room using the sound source and a sound level meter to determine the corrections that must be applied to allow for the characteristics and absorptiveness of the room.

Impact Sound Testing Equipment
The time taken to undertake the sound testing varies from project to project as no building project is exactly the same. Taking into account standard site conditions a set of tests on houses which consists of two airborne walls will take approx. 1-2 hours. A six pack of tests on flats consisting of 2 airborne wall, 2 airborne floor and 2 impact floor tests will usually take approx. 2-3 hours, although this is dependent on our engineers having full free uninterrupted access between all the units/rooms under investigation.

UK Wedding Dress Cleaning Services

UK Wedding Dress Cleaning Services
He’s finally asked the big question, and the day you’ve dreamed of since you were a girl is now just around the corner. So many things to organize: the venue for the ceremony and the reception, how far and wide to send the wedding invitations, dresses for the bridesmaids and, of course, your wedding dress.

Today’s weddings are more expensive than ever, regularly comparing in price to a new car. Not the least of the expenses is the wedding dress. For many married women, the wedding dress is far and away the most expensive article of clothing they will ever wear. While the occasion certainly warrants it – after all, it’s a rare event in one’s life – a wedding dress is typically expensive to acquire and, potentially when searching for professional wedding dress cleaning services, can prove expensive..

Although one never sees it in photos taken by a professional photographer several days before the wedding, the potential for your wedding dress to acquire stains is significant. Depending on weather conditions, inside temperature and the nervousness that is to be expected on your wedding day, you may have sweat stains form in the bodice area and elsewhere. Stains from food and wine at the wedding reception are another distinct possibility. Some of the most common ones, such as sugar stains from champagne and cake icing, are nearly invisible at the time they are created, and these stains can set and darken over time.

The good news is that, although your wedding dress will not likely survive the big day entirely stain-free, taking steps ahead of time to ensure that the dress is professionally cleaned and preserved within an appropriate timeframe will greatly improve the odds of your dress being restored to its original condition. Taking the dress for cleaning within one month of the wedding is sufficient for many wedding dresses (so no need to shorten the honeymoon to save your dress), assuming there are no stains that need immediate attention. Otherwise, arrange to have it cleaned within a few days or as soon after the wedding as possible.

All brides-to-be should understand the cleaning and preservation process for wedding dresses so that appropriate arrangements can be made prior to the day of the wedding. While considerably more complicated than that of most other special-care garments, a good bit of planning and forethought will ensure that your cherished wedding dress and future family heirloom will survive the decades as well as the new life you are about to begin.

First and foremost, understand that the care for such a garment will be considerably more specific and expensive than for most other dry-clean-only or other special-care garments. If the process seems a bit overwhelming and you feel as though you have been tasked with preserving a treasure, it’s because you have. With that in mind, you will want to begin by consulting with a specialty wedding dress cleaner. One way that you will know you are dealing with a reputable company is that they will not charge a flat fee for all wedding dresses. Different dresses have different cleaning and storage requirements, and the right wedding dress cleaner will recommend a telephone consultation or that you bring in your wedding dress to be inspected before they provide a quote for the cleaning and preservation.

Where preservation is concerned, you will want to make sure that your wedding dress cleaning company makes a point of preserving your wedding dress in acid-free tissue paper when storing it in an archival box. The museum preservation method is another option, but it usually costs more. Once you have had your wedding dress cleaned and preserved, be sure to store the dress in a cool, dark area free of moisture and sunlight. Avoid storing the dress in areas of the house such as the attic or basement, as they typically do not benefit from the climate controls in the main living space. If storing in a rented storage space, make sure that it is climate-controlled.

As with many other aspects of your wedding plans, it may seem as though the devil is in the details when it comes to having your wedding dress professionally cleaned and preserved. By knowing those details beforehand and making arrangements with a specialty cleaning and preservation company, you can rest assured that the dress in which you have made a substantial investment will be just as beautiful several decades from now as the day you walked down the aisle.

Imagine handing your precious wedding gown into the protection of the safest, most caring hands there are; gentle hands that will love it, respect it, nurture it and expertly clean and restore it, preserving the exquisite memories invested in every thread now and for the future.

Server Room Integrity Test

Server Room Integrity Test

If you have a server room that’s protected by fire extinguishment it is required to have an annual Server Room Integrity Test. Protected enclosures such as Data Centres, Server Rooms and Laboratory’s all need to be tested on an annual basis, given the potential consequences of downtime due to fire damage.

Approved standard BS ISO 15004 states that an server room integrity test be undertaken prior to the handover of the enclosure, and annually thereafter. It also states that an integrity test should be undertaken if the room has received new works i.e. new penetrations have been formed through the room envelope to allow for new data/electrical installations; in this instance another room integrity test should be undertaken immediately after the installation works have been completed.

To allow the gaseous fire suppression system to work properly the room must be sufficiently airtight to retain an extinguishing concentration for a specified period after discharge; this is usually10 minutes unless an extended discharge has been designed into the system. If the protected room cannot hold the extinguishment for the minimum retention period, then the fire may reignite causing further damage to critical asset.

Fire Damage to Server Rooms

Blower Door Integrity Testing

The blower door Integrity Testing, method provides a means of predicting the retention time without the need to release the extinguishing gas. The test methodology is in accordance with the general requirements specified in NFPA 2001, BS EN 15004 and the BFPSA Code of Practice for Gaseous Extinguishing Systems. The fan is positioned within the enclosure access doorway. Pressure and de-pressure airflow measurements are taken, from which the leakage characteristics of the enclosure are established. The predicted retention time is calculated from these leakage characteristics and the enclosure and extinguishing system.

A Blower Door Fan System Undertaking an Integrity Test

Room Integrity Testing can be undertaken to all types and sizes of enclosures, from large data centre’s to small server rooms. In each case we carry out the necessary calculations prior to the test, and use high powered UKAS calibrated blower door fan systems with integrity testing software to determine results immediately upon completion of the room integrity test. Our experienced engineers continually ensure that the room integrity testing is clean and non-disruptive and the room can carry on its normal working operations – there is no requirement for shutdowns to your critical assets.

If your Integrity Test result is less than the required 10 minute retention time then it will result in a test failure. However; thereafter a smoke survey inspection can be carried out to identify all major air leakage paths prior to the undertaking of the remedial sealing works. An air leakage report is issued detailing the results and any recommendations in an easy to follow format. This allows you to undertake remedial sealing works on the day of the test to achieve a test pass.

We understand the importance of protecting your critical assets and as a result our server room integrity testing process is as rigorous and as complete as any other within the industry, using our extensive knowledge of testing Data Centres, Server Rooms and ITU you can be safe in the knowledge that the testing is being undertaken by a UKAS accredited testing laboratory.

We undertake room integrity testing using the latest UKAS calibrated blower door systems. The blower door fan is latched into a fully adjustable cloth door panel that fills the opened door frame space. the enclosure test is undertake by running the calibrated fan at different pressures, thus generating pressure into the protected enclosure from the outside space. By monitoring the pressure differential between the external space to the protected room a series of readings is taken from 10-60Pa on pressurise and depressurise and data inputted to our integrity software; together with added information such as the protected height and the type and weight of gas, i.e. FM200, FE25 etc.

Once the information is logged into the computer the software can then work out the descending interface height hold time, or mixing concentration result. If the protected room is air tight, then a pass should be easily achievable. If the room has too many air leakage paths (and the retention time is less than 10minutes) then it will result in a test failure. To achieve a pass the room will require a smoke test to highlight the air leakage paths, after the smoke survey further sealing works can be undertaken along with a final retest to achieve a server room integrity test pass.

If you have a protected enclosure that requires a room integrity test, please contact us at: info@airpressuretesting.net or call 07775623464. We undertake testing throughout London and the South East.
