Hiring a Wedding Planner – Tips for Planning Your Wedding on a Budget
So you’ve just gotten engaged – congratulations! The next order of business is setting a date and, from there, planning the wedding. When planning your wedding day, think quality, not quantity. Especially if you’re on a budget: chances are you’ve been to a few weddings that cost as much as a new BMW 3-series, but that doesn’t mean you need to do likewise. After all, this is your day, and it should be the memorable experience that you want to have and that you will fondly remember for many years to come.

Following are some tips for ensuring the best possible wedding experience without breaking your budget:

Select your Guest List Wisely
Since a good many people on your guest list will already be married or in a committed relationship (immediate and extended family, friends your age or older, work acquaintances), the invitations you send to their addresses will be addressed to two people, but you will also want to consider the guests who are single when the wedding invitations go out who may wish to bring a guest and, assuming they all do, that the total number of people in attendance will not cause you to exceed your budget.

Leave the Big City Behind & Look Beyond
Many popular venues for young professionals are in city limits, and they charge a premium accordingly. However, there are plenty of excellent options outside of city limits, and the people you most want to have at your wedding won’t mind travelling a bit farther in order to celebrate such a momentous occasion with you. Many of these out-of-town venues are more convenient in that they also provide overnight accommodations for any guests who are travelling a considerable distance to be at your wedding as well as for the bride and groom on their wedding night. Think of it as an occasion for your out-of-town friends and family to take a short city break and enjoy the local colour before and after your wedding!

Buffet Reception Dinner
This is a good idea for numerous reasons. A dinner buffet will help you to stay within your budget by reducing the number of catering staff you will need on hand compared to having a wait staff serving multiple courses. In addition, a buffet can be considerably less stressful for your guests (at least a few of whom will be vegetarian or on a gluten-free diet), who will be able to choose what they like without announcing to everyone around them, as orders are being taken, that they are “that person”. A dinner buffet also tends to be more convivial, allowing guests to mingle as they meet each other at the buffet rather than locking them into a seating arrangement for the duration of a three-course meal.

Hire a Wedding Planner
The fact remains that you don’t plan your own wedding very often – hopefully you will only do so once – and hiring a professional wedding planners may be well worth the cost since they know better than you how to juggle all the small details and what the most beneficial cost-cutting measures will be. Considering how easily the total cost could be tens of thousands of pounds, the fee charged by a wedding planner could turn out to be the best investment you make when planning your wedding day.
